Effective climate strategy to
reduce GHG emissions

Climate protection is not an option for us – it’s an obligation. We have therefore set ourselves ambitious climate targets to stop global warming. They are in line with the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement. This has been confirmed by the independent organization Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This makes us one of over 7,500 companies worldwide whose climate targets have been validated in terms of their effectiveness in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We want to be pioneers and take responsibility.

Consistent circular economy across all markets

For us, the circular economy is the key to climate protection. With our PÖPPELMANN blue® initiative, we are committed to using recycled plastic waste and developing products that are fully recyclable. The result: every second kilogram of plastic that we process comes from recycled materials. As a pioneer in the circular economy, we have managed to achieve this even in strictly regulated industries – while maintaining a consistently high level of quality. In this way, we are actively shaping a more sustainable future and setting new standards for the entire industry.

ENVIRONMENTAL
DECLARATION

We have been improving our environmental performance since 1996
voluntarily and according to the highest measurable standards.

Air, water and soil are the basis of all life. Environmental protection conserves our limited resources. That is why we voluntarily introduced the world’s most demanding system for sustainable environmental management in 1996: EMAS. This abbreviation stands for Eco-Management and Audit Scheme and describes a process of continuous improvement in environmental performance. We are certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 and EMAS3 as well as DIN EN ISO 50001:2018 and DIN ISO 45001:2018.

GREENHOUSE GAS
REPORT

We measure our greenhouse gas emissions on the basis of science-based guidelines.

In 2022, we began collecting data to balance our greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the reporting standards of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. This was one of the prerequisites for having our own climate targets verified by SBTi. Every year, we publish a verified greenhouse gas report with the previous year’s data.
